Is IVM used in Brazil, Peru, and India? Is the death rate in those countries indicative of IVM efficacy at scale?I'm sure some among you are watching with interest how countries that encourage or systematically use IVM are doing vis a vis COVID deaths.
What transpires from the figures?

Please see this thread for why ivermectin use was probably not that huge, given Uttar Pradesh (the oft-quoted shining example of ivermectin use) has a population of 240M and probably they have not used even 24M doses of ivermectin in Uttar Pradesh.
Thread also examines the question of whether variants may be causing escape:

Also check out this post for analysis of the possible effect of Peru's change in ivermectin policy:

No, it's not in systemic country wide use in any of those. Brazil and India do have some usage, but it's different in different parts of the country, and it's really hard to know how widely it is used.
Peru did use it systematically with claimed good results. They stopped and now they are again having bad situation. It is hard to know what is IVM's exact role in all this. My take is that it did contribute to the good results.
Some places where IVM is claimed to be used systematically: Mexico City, Panama, Zimbabwe.
There's been a lot of curve goes down, ivm is working claims recently which have been false. India, South Africa, some eastern Europe countries and Portugal come to mind here. These might have some usage, but there's definitely no systematic usage for all patients. And unless there's systematic usage it's hard to make any claims.

Why did they stop using it in Peru ? I have a hard time understanding why IVM is not widely used. Hesitating between conspiracy and extreme corruption.

Several people have mentioned that ivermectin was banned in Peru shortly after the presidential election in November. The reasoning given was that (some?) scientists had complained back in October that it was not possible to run clinical trials for vaccines or new drugs in Peru because of the lack of a control group. It seems that they have successfully re-established the control group.

People keep getting fooled by seasonality. It'd be hilarious if the stakes weren't so high.
