I can see several possible scenarios for this NIH study: First...they can ignore IVM completely. Hopefully that is not likely since knowledge of the drug's use against Covid-19 throughout the world has increased tremendously with the immense contributions from groups like the Frontline Covid-19 Critical Care Alliance (FLCCC). Or the NIH study can include ivermectin but then construct a study which will show little or no effect---it has been done before, and it can be done again. I think the most likely outcome of the NIH study, however, is much more devious than that....they will simply drag their heels and take just enough time for Merck or some other Big PHarma company to get an EUA for a novel new drug which hopefully will do what ivermectin is doing right now...saving lives. Of course this new drug will be VERY expensive! Once that EUA is granted there will be ZERO chance that ivermectin or any other cheap effective drug the NIH is studying will ever see FDA approval.

I wish I could be more optimistic. I wish I could believe that this NIH study is positive news for the possible future adoption of IVM for Covid-19 prevention and treatment. However, up to this point the main stream medical organizations (aided and abetted by the main stream media and most of our political leaders) have absolutely ignored the mountains of evidence that ivermectin works, and have thereby repeatedly turned their backs on suffering millions of people throughout the world, leaving them to die a horrible death smothering in thier own pulmonary fluids hooked up to ventilators. What makes us think that they will suddenly open their eyes, unstop their ears, and speak the truth? Their eyes have been blinded by power, their ears have been stopped by the ROAR of the giant lying pharmaceutical industry and their voices have been silenced by being stuffed with the dollars of that same industry.

One event that might break the logjam is for the efficacious results of whole-country or whole district ivermectin distribution efforts to be more publicized. Probably this would need more watertight studies and true universal distribution in those locales. At present distribution has been somewhat spotty.

I believe this is how things will evolve.

I have a few theories:

  1. Some big pharma company (or maybe more than one) has achieved success with one of their patented drugs in a smaller trial, something that will perhaps be a little bit better than ivermectin, or at least in some outcome (such as recovery time in mostly healthy people). This pharma company has now given the regulators (both NIH and now in the UK also) the scoop and told them that it is now time to do the early treatment thing, since they are ready with something. The studies will be designed (and perhaps even conducted.... I don't put anything past them anymore) in such a way as to make sure the cheap drugs are less effective and the ones they can make money from can win out.
  2. They have reached the point of no return with the vaccines where they just need to stall for another 3 or 4 months so that most of the high value targets are vaccinated and most of the biggest deals are closed so it doesn't matter anymore. Start the trials now, look like your actually doing your job. Who cares what the outcome is, the vaccine rollout already made the billions we were hoping for.
  3. Similar to 2. above. Reached the point where it doesn't really matter anymore and also the point where they know other trials will confirm the effectiveness beyond doubt of some other drug within the next 2 or 3 months anyway, so start the trials so you can seem like you've been doing your job. (Note that Romark is about to release the results of a rather large study on Nitazoxanide that appears to confirm it is effective, might be related)
  4. The patentable slow release/time release versions of ivermectin are ready for showtime, so there's some money to be made yet.

Anyway, everything is driven by money and spin. Clearly the announcements almost at the same time in the US and Europe are due to a behind the scenes player indicating that now is the time to do these. Probably the pharma guys seeing that the stall tactics have done their job and now it's time for the clean-up operation to tie up the early treatment loose ends that are starting to get a little bit out of hand.

Great analysis. I go with 1.

The way it was reported in the UK (see me post yesterday from the Daily Mail), it made it sound like it was the Uk government driving and pushing for this magical pill.

Here's a lots of interesting context to this: https://trialsitenews.com/is-the-departure-of-ncats-director-indicative-of-nihs-repurposing-track-record-during-the-pandemic/

Good article, I didn't know all that was going on. Can we trust the NIH now? Hmm, I think some attentional pressure should be applied. If they're marshalling our tax dollars, they should be doing what's best for us...
