measurements on duramectin syringeLooking at the blue duramectin syringe I can see that every five notches are the equivalent of a 250 lbs dose. But for some reason there are two "extra notches" (100 lbs worth) at the very start, so that before you get to the first full 250 lbs mark there are actually 7 notches, rather than 5.
Since the syringe says it contains enough paste for a 1250 lbs dose, I am guessing these first two notches are "empty" and should be disregarded when dosing? So, for example, if I wanted to dose for 150s lb starting from the beginning of a new tube, I would actually start 5 notches in, rather than 3?
I am a little confused about why those two extra notches are there - can anyone enlighten me? It seems important to understand this beforehand in order to dose correctly.

The standard dosing for ivermectin in humans is 12mg per day for a 60kg person (0.2mg per kg bodyweight).
Anything else you should try to see what a dose is in milligrams (mg) to get the equivalent dosage.
We do not encourage use of veterinary ivermectin.
If you are confused about the small ticks, ie the calibration, maybe just use the ones which clearly indicate dose.

One syringe contains sufficient paste to treat one 1250 lb horse at the recommended dose rate of 91 mcg ivermectin per lb (200 mcg/kg) body weight. Each weight marking on the syringe plunger delivers enough paste to treat 250 lb body weight.

And this comment there which is a warning about veterinary ivermectin and about it's dosing and risk of overdosing:

The standard daily dose of Ivermectin is 0.2mg/kg body weight. So a 60kg person would take 12mg ivermectin tablets - for example with the I-MASK+ protocol of 12mg every 14 days.
You would have to be sure how much of the liquid has 12mg etc.
The FDA also says people should consider any additives that may be there in veterinary products - so check the ingredients.
