I applied just now, haven't been admitted. Based on a 5-minute experience, I like the UI much more than Facebook's. Does anyone else have the experience on FB of seeing "110 comments" and when you click that count, you get like 4 comments? Facebook drives me crazy.

I HATE Facebook so I stopped using it a couple years ago. The reasons are too many to list. However, the annoying and persistent new message notifications that cause you to check but find zero messages was a major irritant! This would happen frequently even though there were no new unread messages. I became convinced that it was deliberate to drive their visit stats which directly increase their add revenue.

I hate those notifications and can't figure out how to turn them off. Is there a way?

You could use my method and stop using Facebook. ;)

I do recall some settings for turning it off but I don't think I ever found a way to tune it to work correctly. Here is a link:

I've applied just now. I couldn't understand rationale behind FB to deactivate the group. It was such a wonderful group.
