What's Behind the Ivermectin-for-COVID Buzz? — Maverick physicians spurn randomized trials while "people are dying" (US 2021-01-06) MedPage - Sympathetic article with good quotes from Drs. Marik and Kory, MANY links[-] TrumpLyftAlles | 3 points
There's too much in the article to pull out. I could post the whole thing but you should just read it.
I thought this was important: Dr. Kory's employment hassles, IMO because of his truly admirable integrity and commitment to healing patients.
Championing ivermectin has cost Kory professionally. He resigned from the University of Wisconsin in May, saying he couldn't stand by while patients were getting supportive care only. At the time, he felt they should be getting steroids, though their benefit wasn't confirmed until June.
Kory's resignation came not long after he testified at a May 6 Senate hearing led by Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson (R), in which he called for use of steroids in COVID-19 patients.
He subsequently joined Aurora St. Luke's and testified in favor of ivermectin Dec. 8 at a second Senate hearing organized by Johnson. He then quit there, too, telling MedPage Today the hospital wanted to limit his freedom to speak.
Kory said he was able to prescribe ivermectin at St. Luke's, but only after showing his data to the chief of pharmacy there. Marik, however, said Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he works, does not allow it.
Apparently Dr. Kory had to move because of his convictions:
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital (SNGH), on the Eastern Virginia Medical Campus, is a large 525-bed medical center, which serves as the primary teaching institution for the adjacent Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS).
It's bizarre and discouraging that the hospital associated with EVMS (where Dr. Marik teaches) disallows ivermectin! :(

And therefore Dr. Marik can't prescribe it.
Many doctors who are not independent are in this situation. Whether they believe or not, if the institution they work for forbids it, that's all there is to say. And the institutions are all looking for FDA approval, which hasn't happened yet. I'm not optimistic that it will ever be FDA-approved, which is why the various independent telehealth companies that have sprung up are important. There is a cottage industry built around drugs that have a good track record with real doctors treating real patients, but which many peoples' doctors will not prescribe.

SHIT you're right! If Dr. Kory can't treat patients with ivermectin, it would follow that Dr. Marik can't either. What a bizarre world we live in.
I'm not optimistic that it will ever be FDA-approved
Me neither. Makes me think I'm wasting my time with my ivermectin obsession. :(
the various independent telehealth companies that have sprung up are important.
Have they been around a while, like, pre-pandemic? I wonder if they are putting their careers at risk. I wasn't paying attention: what pre-pandemic off-label drugs were/are in demand that they were willing to prescribe?

To it's credit the article is up to date as it does mention:
Andrew Hill, PhD, a senior visiting research fellow in the pharmacology department at Liverpool University in England, recently presented a similar meta-analysis of the data on ivermectin, which was posted on YouTube just last week. It supported the FLCCC's conclusions.
And for it mentioning the employment difficulties for doctors - Dr Kory - who are chafing at the restrictions placed on them by dim witted bureaucrats who don't understand risk management.
