Horse paste conservation

Do we know if the paste remains effective after several days after opening the syringe? Does ivermectin break down quickly?

Technically it's single use but given that it's a paste in a not perfectly air tight container I don't see why it would rapidly break down within days if the cap is put on.

It cost about 3 bucks for the whole tube...It doesn't say anywhere to refrigerate after opening.

I use the Durvet brand and it does not appear to be vacuum sealed. So if it's good for 2 years like that, I don't see why it should lose effectiveness after putting the cap back on.

How do you dose the paste? From what I can tell I need approx. 12mg., but since not a liquid, not sure how to estimate.

Well, the Durvet brand has notches for each 50 lbs of body weight. It's the same 0.2 mg/kg dosage for humans and animals. I also round up to the next 50 lbs.

50 lbs is 22.7 kg

Can only get paste, Ivermectin with praziquantel. Is the latter a problem?
