So we need to take breaks from ivermectin?

While looking for something else, I ran across the title link.

Covid 19 and Ivermectin Prevention and Treatment Update

Ivermectin should be used at a rate of 200 micrograms per kilogram of weight, in a weekly dose, which will be repeated in the same period, up to 8 weeks. After these two months, the adipose tissue will have for its protective effect to last for another four months [9]. Those four “extra” months can be covered with carrageenan, which may have been used since the beginning of prevention or just added in the ninth week, since its use can be prolonged indefinitely [10].

Here's references 9 and 10:

[9] Fink DW, Porras AG (1989) Pharmacokinetics of Ivermectin in Animals and Humans. In: Campbell WC (ed) Ivermectin and Abamectin, Springer, New York, NY, pp: 113-130

[10] Ricardo Pena Silva, Stephen B Duffull, Andrew C Steer, Sandra X Jaramillo-Rincon, Amanda Gwee, et al. (2020) Pharmacokinetic considerations on the repurposing of ivermectin for treatment of COVID-19. Br J Clin Pharmacol.

Ref 9 is behind a paywall, Springer wants $30 for it, I don't feel like giving it to them - but I might change my mind

Ref 10 doesn't seem to have any useful information.

My reading is that after 8 weeks dosing it is not necessary to take more Ivermectin for another 4 months due to it being stored up in fats.

Ivermectin is highly lipophilic and apparently fat tissue takes up a fair bit of Ivermectin (and also, by the way, vitamin D3 which is a contributor to deficiency in obese people).

That's what I got from it, too.

FYI I found the "Pharmacokinetics of Ivermectin in Animals and Humans." (well, Dr. Marik emailed it to me when I asked him for it) and I posted it to the sub. It doesn't have anything relevant to the statement "the adipose tissue will have for its protective effect to last for another four months". I still don't know where that came from.

Dammit I wish I could ask Dr. Carvallo!

Somehow, I did eventually find a copy too (or broke down and bought it, not sure which). Agreed about the "adipose tissue" effect not being in there.

I don't know that there would be any experience with long term dosing prior to covid-19 - this stuff is usually given once or twice a year. We're blazing new trails - which is to say we're being guinea pigs.

Totally. Someone raised an interesting concern: if ivermectin is blocking the virus from sending proteins into the nucleus by block the imp alpha/beta1 transport mechanism -- then what good things aren't happening? It seems like the mechanism exists because it's needed, right? I asked the question the Ivermectin MD Team facebook group, got a lot of unrelated replied. Hopefully someone will step up with the answer someday. I also asked Dr. Wagstaff (co-author of Monash 48 hours) on LinkedIn, no response so far.

Yep, good points. I'm glad you've asked all those people - maybe try it again someday/
