Photosensitivity/hallucinatory effects after taking full tube of Durvet paste

Hi Everyone. I am fully convinced of Ivermectin’s potency in combatting covid, but like many of you my doctor was unwilling to prescribe something that was not FDA approved for such a use. I got the 1.87% Ivermectin Horse Paste on amazon that seems to be the common horse paste ingested here, and yesterday I took a full tube. At my body weight I should have only taken about 3 notches and 3 teeth on the syringe, but it all squeezed out and I figured it wouldn’t do any harm. About 5 to 6 hours after taking it it seemed like my bathroom light was flickering and then I realized that other lights also seemed like they were strobing. I confirmed with my family that the lights were not flickering or moving in anyway and it was my eyesight that was the problem. I also started to notice that if I closed my eyes I would get slight fractal hallucinations the likes of which you would get by looking at the sun intently and then covering your eyes. The effects have persisted this morning and I am kind of worried. I have found one amazon reviewer who reported having the same effects for 30 hours but other than that I have not seen anything about this online. any opinions/similar experiences would be very helpful, i’m feeling quite stupid that I could safely taken more paste than my weight allotted.

TLDR: took a whole tube of horse paste, several hours later became extremely sensitive to light and had slight hallucinations of lights strobing/flickering, this has persisted into the next morning

UPDATE ~44 hours later: my vision is completely back to normal and I am feeling fine. It started to improve significantly about 24 hours after I first took the horse paste. Will take another (exact) dose today as per I-Mask+ protocol. Thanks so much everyone for your helpful feedback and kind words!

Idk it just all squeezed out and didn’t seem like that much more. I admit that it was dumb. Do you think that’s why i’m having this side affect?

Well, how much more do you think you took? Ivermectin isn't something you can take as much as you want:it is still medicine and not, say, water... As to the hallucinations, I really don't know, but it could be.

Oh, I'd say you're fine then. I'd start worrying if you took 10 times that.

As to the hallucinations: maybe they're caused by some other added substance.

Just relax and let it wear off....

Do you drink alcohol? Or take any anti-anxiety meds ? At higher doses ivermectin has interactions with GABA receptors (source)

I don’t take anti-anxiety meds but I had a glass of wine a few hours after I took the ivermectin.

I can only comment on dogs and overdose. The advice I got was that the liver should clear ivermectin in 48 hours enough to correct the side effects. As long as the dog can move-might be woozy- can drink and breathe normally, just rest and observation. I have never(thankfully) had a k9 show any side effects.

I see where you’re coming from and plan to delete this post after my symptoms go away or someone else who’s had them can corroborate them going away. Although it’s obviously not recommended a lot of people on this sub have discussed taking the horse paste and if taking just 2 notches more than the recommended amount can cause this type of side effect I think people deserve to know.

Yup, too much will do that.

The good news is that every 18 hours the effect will dramatically reduce, it's not permanent.

It's hard to sleep through but take a lot of melatonin and it will get better in a day.

thanks ya I was able to sleep okay and today was made a lot easier after I found some old yellow polarized sunglasses that seemed to remove a lot of visual fuzz and strobiness. i’m past the 24 hour mark from when I first took it and it’s definitely improved a lot.

lol the closed eye visuals definitely remind me of acid or mushrooms. The light pulsation is not something i’ve regularly experienced on psychedelics.

Thank you for the feedback and yes I agree and feel bad about muddying up the forum with dumb anecdotes like this that could scare people off. i’m hoping to delete it once I get some more opinions as i’m obviously kind of worried and would love to encounter someone whose experienced this and gotten back to normal.
