Ivermectin Half life confusion

Multiple sources for prophylaxis say the half life of ivermectin is between 18-72h in the tissues. If so then why are people taking it every week or every 2 weeks? Why not every 3-4 days for constant maximum protection? I want to eat a pea size amount of paste every 3-4 days is that risky?

I'm with you: I dose every Sunday and Wednesday. Alexa reminds me, bless her little heart.

I'm about as far as you can get from an MD, though. Did you see Dr. Aguirre's recommendation? Weekly is good, if you don't have covid-positive people in your life all day.

Thing is my brother has to go to school and my dad is working every day and recently an employee tested positive. He wasn’t working the same shift as him but I’m worried it has already spread to the other co-workers he is exposed to. He’s a postman who does his routes alone but still has to share the prep room every morning

Persuade your DAD to take some ivermectin. Stop him from getting infected so he doesn't bring it home. ALSO so he doesn't get sick, with all the horrible possible results of that.

I can’t. My parents think I’m a nutcase hypochondriac for taking my vitamins and zinc religiously. I’m seriously planning on sneaking a gumdrop off paste in his breakfast every thre days.

LOL. I suggested something like that to a woman who is doing all the cooking for her elderly parents. "Just sneak some IVM into their food!".

Tell your Dad it's a gel form of Viagra. ;)

The first time I heard of ivermectin horse paste was a guy who used it as a cheaper alternative for treating his scabies. He suggested mixing it with jam if you don't like the flavor.

It might be tricky with the dosing -- but getting too much isn't a problem: you could put IVM in their jam, if they're jam lovers. I don't know how well the jam hides the flavor, though.

Seller told me the paste is going to be out of stock soon for a few months due to high demand, so if you use it for prophylaxis, make sure you save enough of it in case you actually get sick...

Thanks for the warning! It's interesting that demand is up. Did the seller say when the increased demand began?

I anticipated that (1) the vaccines would take a lot longer to develop and (2) Amazon would impose a requirement for a veterinary prescription, so I stocked up. There's enough ivermectin horse paste in the refrigerator to last the entirety of 2021. :)

The seller said "because of the virus" so I guess that's clear enough ;)

That's very interesting! Maybe news of ivermectin vs covid19 is getting out there.

Around June, maybe, there were a number of tweets about the government (which part unspecified) ordering ivermectin to be removed from the shelves of agriculture retailers like Tractor Supply. Googling, I traced the allegation back to a post on a well-known "infotainers" site, the comment section. JUST a rumor. It never happened.

I noticed the price had raised recently and the 3 pack wasn’t going to be back in for a couple weeks.
