Dr. Aguirre's recommendation for dosing with ivermectin for prophylaxis (Peru 2020-12-10)It's difficult not to consider oneself "highly exposed" with an R0 of 2-3 for the virus itself and a current 10%+ positivity rate locally.
[-] TrumpLyftAlles | 3 points
Time for hermit mode. Our positivity rate in Mass is only 5.6% (last I looked) and I've stepped up my already-extreme isolation, having the pharmacy and grocery deliver so I have NO reason to venture outside except for walks.

I was doing much the same - 65 years old, obese, diabetic, hypertensive - but I've been reading obsessivley. I improved my nutrition, got my vitamin d up to 60+ ng/ml, and am taking HCQ and IVM prophylactically - so I've been going out some, shopping and seeing people. And yes, I consider myself highly exposed. I've stockpiled IVM and HCQ, too. So far, though I've only done the IVM oncce weekly. maybe I'll step that up.

What's your blood type? We have the same risk factors if it's not O. I'm 3 years older.
You are a LOT braver than me.
Are you in the US, and if so, how did you get HCQ? Just curious, I don't want to buy it.
[-] my-tech-reddit-acct | 2 points
I'm pretty sure I'm type O, but the difference in risk based on that alone is not large, it keeps getting brought up as click-bait, but the difference is small.
I am in the U.S. I got prescribed HCQ and had it sent to me by using speakwithanmd.com - the one good thing in the U.S. is that capitalism often creates a way around the .gov bullshit. But it would be better if we could just buy it over-the-counter, like most of the rest of the world can. Ditto ivermectin.
I also bought HCQ from insulinhub.com

How do I get this in Canada?

I work in an office, but only need to go in 2-3 days each week. I probably only go into a store once per week on average as I do curbside most other times. In addition to wearing a KF94 mask and full goggles, I have been prophylaxing with weekly ivermectin using the 0.2mg/kg dosing. Nothing to report other than nothing. No ill effects nor any reason to suspect infection. Just adding my personal experience to the prophylaxis discussion.
[-] TrumpLyftAlles | 2 points
KF94 + goggles sounds solid. I need goggles.
Thanks for the post!

I got some bobsters that fit over my glasses. I look crazy, but I don't care. Cases are skyrocketing in GA.

bobsters that fit over my glasses
Never heard of them. Found 'em. Thanks!

I’ve been taking a dose of IVM every 7-10 days (depending on when I have to buy food) since mid-May. Will continue probably forever.
[-] TrumpLyftAlles | 2 points
Ditto! LOL. Except I take it twice a week -- also adjusting according when I grocery shop.
[-] apollo11junkie | 1 points
Day 1, then day 4, then repeat next month?
[-] TrumpLyftAlles | 2 points
That's one of many schedules. The fact is no one knows. If you're in a high-exposure job or have a covid+ housemate, I would dose at least weekly.
But I'm not a doctor and this isn't medical advice.
[-] apollo11junkie | 2 points
Ok, understood. Thanks for setting up the other sub...good move.
Where do you get it?
[-] Fun-Hall-1351 | 1 points
Here is a list of telemed Drs that will prescribe it. I’ve been using the vet grade which you can find here: https://www.petsuppliesdelivered.com/product/88781/Horse-Health-Equine-Ivermectin-Paste-1.87,-Anthelmintic-and-Boticide,-.21-ounces.html and here: https://www.countrysidepet.com/products/fish-aid-doxycycline-tablets-100mg
Here are the drs: https://www.thecompleteguidetohealth.com/united-states-doctor-directory.html
Dr Uphues will for sure prescribe the IVM.

Dr Uphues will for sure prescribe the IVM
That's the name the guy at speakwithanmd.com gave me. Nice to have more direct contact info, thanks.

since mid-May
I don't know how I missed finding out about IVM until October, I've been reading obsessively about Covid since mid-March. God, I SO wish I'd have found out about it in May!
[-] Fun-Hall-1351 | 2 points
I bought paste in April right after the Australian researches did their research on IVM in Vito. I just felt they were onto something. I’ve been taking vet meds for years so I didn’t think twice. A good thing about living in America without affordable health care, got to figure out how not to die. Thank goodness for the interwebs!

how are you getting ivm ?
[-] Fun-Hall-1351 | 1 points
I use vet meds. https://www.petsuppliesdelivered.com/product/88781/Horse-Health-Equine-Ivermectin-Paste-1.87,-Anthelmintic-and-Boticide,-.21-ounces.html. It is hard to find now. And getting expensive. This is a good source at the moment

Does anyone have the full text for Dr Aguirre's prophylaxis study?
I cannot get the Researchgate download to work on that one. It does work on Aguirre's other studies.

I can't find the parent tweet - what dose is being taken

There were multiple doses they tried. Read the whole study at the FLCCC alliance website. Generalizing, they were saying around 0.2mg/kg on days 1 and 3, repeat each month fo prophylaxis

Dr. Aguirre's recommended dose for prophylaxis is 200mcg/kg (same as .2mg/kg as JohnnyEtc posted).

You should write that as 0.2 mg/kg. Someone is going to miss the leading "." and think it is 2 mg/kg.

According to Guzzy et all, 2mg/kg is safe in the sense that they observed no Central Nervous System symptoms.
Not contradicting you, just mentioning to make the point that it's hard to dangerously overdose with ivermectin.

I’ve read from several medical journals that Ivermectin can cause neurological symptoms ONLY if it’s consumed with ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES. Alcohol can carry Ivermectin across the Blood-Brain Barrier which can result in neurological symptoms. Aside from that it’s considered one of the safest drugs in existence and there are no known cases of deaths by overdose.
