Ivermectin in Covid experience

Has anyone taken ivermectin for Covid and had a bad experience here? My moms PCP is refusing to write her a script for it :(

I took it on day 3 of my symptoms, right after I got word that I had tested positive. My immunologist prescribed it for me because I'm immune compromised. By day 4 my symptoms stopped progressing and plateaued, then slowly got better. No side effects. I'm a believer. I echo those who say bring your doctor research. It's ridiculous that it's not widely available (in the US, which is where I assume you are).

I've brought all three different doctors the research and all wouldn't hear me out. They're all focused on the CDC being the gold standard and since it isn't recommended they were all too scared.

Most doctors are very conservative and only follow NIH Treatment Guidelines. You can find doctors who will treat C19 on outpatient basis via telemedicine from the directory in this link: https://www.exstnc.com/

No, sorry. However, I think I would take a bunch of research to the PCP and see if he/she will hear you. I would also attempt to show the PCP that some very highly qualified doctors are advocating for Ivermectin use.

FLCC Research:

https://covid19criticalcare.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/FLCCC-IVERMECTIN-Summary.pdf

Eastern Virginia Medical School now recommends Ivermectin:

https://www.evms.edu/media/evms_public/departments/internal_medicine/EVMS_Critical_Care_COVID-19_Protocol.pdf

Iran trial:

https://www.researchsquare.com/article/rs-109670/v1

George Fareed is a Harvard grad and has 50+ years practicing medicine. He won the rural doctor of the year award in California in 2015. Here is currently advocating for Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sW8-zdteWBg

There is way more research out there! I would use whatever you can find to build your case. If the PCP still won't hear, I would try to find a doctor who will. Dr. Fareed leaves a number in this video if it comes to that for you:

Hi, what is Dr. Fareed’s number? I didn’t catch it on the video. I’ve sent her PCP many sources but she’s been very hard headed. I’m now trying my dad’s PCP but he’s been too busy to talk.

[-] Runnerinthedarke | 1 points | Nov 30 2020 20:00:01

He gave 3 numbers:

760-351-4400

760-351-4573

760-351-4574

I hope you are able to get some help for your mom. Let me know how things go!!

Thank you so much! I called a couple of times and was having trouble getting through. Once I got through the secretary gave me another number and it was the 760-351-4400 number which appears to be out of service. So I will keep trying to get ahold of them tomorrow. This physician is my last hope.

Sorry you're having trouble getting through, hopefully tomorrow you can!

There are some other doctors....

Dr. Brian Tyson in California uses Ivermectin and/or hydroxychloroquine. He is also a colleague of Dr. Fareed.

Dr. Zev Zelenko in New York uses Ivermectin and/or hydroxychloroquine.

Dr. Brian Proctor of Mckinney family medicine uses hydroxychloroquine and/or Ivermectin.

Dr. Richard Bartlett in Odessa Texas uses nebulized budesonside which has produced good results for him so far.

Dr. April Lopez in McCallen Texas uses Ivermectin.

A quick Google search of the names and locations of these doctors will bring up the numbers of their clinics. I can't promise that any of them will help you but you can give it a shot

I will, thank you so much. You’re an angel. What has made you pro ivermectin? Was it a personal experience? Do you have any other personal recommendations that I should research?

I've been dosing for prophylaxis using horse paste since early October, as has my fiance. No side effects, and so far covid free.

I also dropped off horse paste and some vitamins to a friend on her second day of illness (confirmed positive via rapid test), and she said she felt a million times better the next day. She pretty much felt normal aside from having a (steadily-improving) cough for the remainder of her quarantine, whereas those first two days she had bad body aches, was feverish, and had a deep cough.

I also had my parents take a dose, and they didn't report any issues.

Hi! What vitamins are you refering to is it D3, C and/or zinc? And how much?

permalink

[-] arabbel | 1 points | Dec 01 2020 14:56:53

D3 (1000mg), a 500mg quercetin/150mg bromelain supplement from amazon (to work as a zinc ionophore), 5mg zinc lozenges, 500mg vitamin C, 3mg of melatonin, and 99mg potassium. Oh and aspirin and Pepcid. That’s what I gave to my friend.

I take most of the supplements myself right now just as a precaution.

permalink

[-] DreXOps | 1 points | Dec 01 2020 15:04:37

Wow I haven't heard anything about quercetin, melatonin or potassium as recommended vitamins for covid, definitely gonna look into it. Also I read that high doses o D3 worked best to help on treatment (4000UI) which is 100mg did you meant to say 1000mg?

permalink

[-] arabbel | 2 points | Dec 01 2020 16:24:25

Oh, yes, 1000iu, not mg! Definitely not dosing anyone with 1000mg of vitamin D, hahaha.

The potassium I don't take preventatively, I have it on hand in case I get covid. Some patients had their potassium levels depleted by covid, so it's more to make sure mending is easier.

https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/study/NCT04468139 Though this doesn't show any info on how the trial went, or if it went, it does have a good write up on how the quercetin could be helpful.

Here are some studies on the melatonin:

Same here, except I had the side-effect of decades-long itching going away. Mites.

Did you get infected?

permalink

[-] Fun-Hall-1351 | 1 points | Nov 30 2020 21:02:13

No. I’m very careful. Social isolation. Mask and distance when I do have to be around people. I would not hesitate to take the full 3-5 day dose + doxycycline if I do get sick.

permalink

[-] hornystudentdoctor | 2 points | Dec 01 2020 03:10:06

How would you get access to it? I've tried for two days now and no physicians are willing to prescribe it.

permalink

[-] Fun-Hall-1351 | 2 points | Dec 01 2020 06:42:04

I have a list of telemed drs that will prescribe it. I’m not familiar with Reddit. Is this a private place in which we are writing?

[-] TrumpLyftAlles | 3 points | Dec 01 2020 08:59:23

It's public, but AFAIK there's no problem with sharing names and phone numbers. I posted a doctor's name and number a few hours ago, in response to a question from H. S. Doctor.

Started on Saturday. Feel totally normal. Better than normal actually, probably thanks to the vitamin cocktail. Just buy the 1.87% horse paste from amazon or Tractor Supply. It's dirt cheap. 0.8 g paste = 15 mg ivermectin. 7 doses per $5 syringe.

For prophylaxis or for treatment??

Prophylaxis. The situation at work sketches me out.

I also tried my dad’s PCP and he also wasn’t comfortable prescribing it despite the research I sent him. I’m disappointed bc the research seems hopeful on it and not like there’s many adverse effects. Timing is key with this and I’m frustrated that I haven’t been able to get my hands on it :(

Take the horse paste.

permalink

[-] hornystudentdoctor | 1 points | Dec 01 2020 03:13:27

I'm too nervous to give my parent horse paste. From what we learn in school medications for animals are under different protocols so I don't want to do more harm than good. Especially something our physicians are all already against :( But I guess if I become too desperate I'll consider

I experimented giving my horse ivermectin for a common cold on the second day of symptoms. Symptoms didn't progress and were much less severe, recovered faster and didn't get that persistent that lasts for weeks. No side effects with said horse.

Prescribe zinc? LOL.

Yes! I had to pay $90, and all he prescribed was hydroxychloriquine and zinc. All I wanted was ivermectin!

I don't think it's right giving direction to use the horse paste or sheep dip version because everyone has to decide on their own risk tolerance... but that would probably be the route I'd take if my PCP was a shithead.

[-] hornystudentdoctor | 1 points | Dec 01 2020 03:14:31

I also don't feel using animal drugs is the right move. But I'm so frustrated. I'm a medical student and haven't studied for days trying to obtain the one made for humans and I've had no luck. At this point I'm tempted to beg a pharmacist lmao

You might be encouraged by the ~30 reviews on Amazon by people who have taken the horse paste successfully, gathered here.

I've been taking it twice a week since May, no problems.

I'm probably older than your parents: I was born during the Truman Administration.
