Ivermectin prophylaxis for COVID-19 for cancer patients

Someone asked me about the appropriateness of taking ivermectin for post-exposure prophylaxis for his wife who is undergoing Taxol chemotherapy for breast cancer.

He had been exposed to covid19 positive people and was taking ivermectin, but his wife was undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer, with a Taxol chemotherapy session scheduled for tomorrow. And he was wondering if his wife would be able to take Ivermectin safely. She is getting treated at a hospital which is not aware of Ivermectin for covid19 treatment.

I did a google search - that turned up a positive impact of ivermectin for cancer treatment - which may even suggest ivermectin should be standard adjuvant for chemotherapy - esp with Taxol etc.

Here are some of the references I could find - which he could show to his wife's oncologist. These may be of interest to some other readers here:

The metabolism of Paclitaxel can be increased when combined with Ivermectin.

A widely available insecticide, Ivermectin, has been shown to make drug-resistant tumours and leukaemia immediately responsive to the drugs; this is not the first time anti-cancer activity has been shown, with previous research on breast, ovarian, lymphoma and TNBC, plus studies showing improved response to Adriamycin and Taxol.

In conclusion, results from the present study demonstrated that ivermectin preferentially targeted the stem cell population in MDA-MB-231 human breast cancer cells. Ivermectin has been demonstrated to be safe, following treatment of millions of patients with onchocerciasis and other parasitic diseases, which makes it a strong candidate for further studies investigating its potential use as a repurposed drug for cancer therapy.

It's a very interesting idea. If I were the husband or wife, I would find especially appealing the suggestion that ivermectin increases the efficacy of the chemo.

My unimportant personal opinion is that ivermectin would be safe and would be a good idea. That's pure guesswork, though, and I'm a confessed ivermectin fan so my opinion is biased.

Ivermectin is ridiculously safe, though. You might suggest the two safety articles here to your friend, to show the oncologist.
