This is really worth watching, cleared up a lot of confusion for me. I'll post a transcript of the ivermectin-specific part, which starts around 16:00.
Really great review! I love the summary table showing that almost all drugs failed except IVM, corticosteroids for the late phase and probably interferon in the early phase. The doctor is awesome.
So, just curious, have you managed to collect your own kit by now, just in case, since it doesn't look like most people who are exposed in the West are given anything to cope with the risk?
I have a cubic foot of possibly helpful supplements, mostly vitamins, and I'm taking the horse paste ivermectin twice a week. I have enough of ivermectin to get me through 2021, I think; I bought it in advance out of fear that Amazon will start requiring a veterinarian's prescription someday.
I'm not an MD and I'm not making any medical recommendations. Seriously.
Of course. Sad that people have to resort to these tactics. Some animal drenches became almost unobtainable (shortages) too, luckily I bought some for my livestock back in February when TSHTF and India announced restrictions on exports of generic medicines. Between the fear of a run on various medicines and the supply chain issues, it's complicated.
Even having shortages of birth control pills here now because of manufacturing issues.
iota carrageenan powder, 0.68g (I use a jewelry scale)
xylitol, 20g (you can try adding more)
Powders are poured into a saline solution at room temperature and heated in a water bath to about 50-60 °C (the solution should be hot but not bubbling); the mixture is periodically stirred. After 20-25 minutes of heating, the cloudy solution with a visible precipitate becomes transparent and slightly viscous (it is liquid, but if you shake it, you should see small, slowly floating bubbles).
The solution can be stored in a refrigerator or at room temperature. It is poured into an empty bottle from basically any nasal spray. After using it for 2 months, it is well tolerated and does not irritate nose or throat.
To obtain a 0.9% solution, add 9 grams of salt to 1 liter of distilled water.
Xylitol seems to help carrageenan to inhibit the virus in cell culture: https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.08.19.225854v1.full.pdf. That's my source.
I took the recipe from page 10 - Sample 3 composition: 1.2 mg/mL iota-carrageenan (I have increased it to 1.7 mg/ml), 50 mg/mL xylitol.
Take a look at Fig. 3: the placebo also suppressed the growth of the virus. The placebo contained only xylitol 50 mg/mL, no carrageenan.
By the way, in commercial nasal sprays, xylitol is also used as a moisturizing additive. :)
Are you completely sure that the horse paste is safe for humans?
Completely? About 99.9%. I looked at the data sheet: it contains a couple inert ingredients labelled non-toxic and ivermectin. The 18 reviews on Amazon by people who had successfully ingested horse paste were encouraging. I've been taking it since April. The only side-effect I've noticed is a remission is decades-long itching wherever I'm hairy; apparently I had a bunch of mites.
Which doctor's recommendation are you following for prophylaxis?
No doctor. My MD wouldn't prescribe ivermectin. The schedule I made up based on it's supposed 18-hour half-life. If you looked at the post about Facebook MDs on prophylaxis, you'll see there's no consensus. I'm high risk 6-7 ways so I'm really interested in prophylaxis.
Interesting, & thank you for all your work regarding Ivermectin. I also bought the horse paste, just in case me (or family) falls ill.
My question is, HOW do you consume it?
So, say my horse was 80 kg, it would want to take 200µg/kg, yielding \~16µg, the horse paste has 18.7µg/g, so we need \~0.85g.
It comes in a syringe that pretty much allows to me to get this amount in a controlled fashion. Or do you use a balance?
Then, it's a paste... do you (=your "horse") just eat (swallow) it? Do you spread it on bread? etc. This is the point where I'm not sure. The horse probably drinks some water after that, right?
I'm not a high-risk person, but I'd like to save myself a full COVID experience, too.... just wanna make sure I don't mess with being too stupid for Ivermectin, you know
This is where I first learned about the horse paste alternative. There's a link to a video about how to measure it out.
I'm very casual about dosing: I put about a quarter-inch onto a spoon and lick it off. I don't own a scale that's sensitive enough to size that dose. So far I haven't kept track of how many doses I get out of a tube. I should do that.
Someone who found the taste obnoxious put the horse paste in jam and spread it on toast. I don't mind the taste.
Again, while I'm not an MD etc, if you ate an entire tube of horse paste at one sitting, if you weigh 80kg, that would be 1.4125 mg/kg.. That's about 2/3rds of the 2mg/kg that has been found safe (let me know if you want that link).
Very similar to an approach I've seen used locally. Stockpiling the paste is not a bad idea - Since our health system is so ass backwards it's the best chance we really have.

Wow, that's excellent, tomatocoup, thanks.
If I'm starting with distilled water, how much salt do I need to put it to hit 0.9%? If I have a gallon, for example -- or whichever unit you prefer.
Xylitol is just sweetening, right?
The ratio of carrageenan to xylitol seems wrong?! 28 times as much sweetener as active ingredient?!
What's your source?

1.87% x 6.08g = 113.7 mg.
