We can hope that the formal studies will confirm its effectiveness. The preliminary reports look encouraging, with reports of severely ill patients suddenly improving after ivermectin dosing. Clinical experience, however, can be misleading. Spontaneous improvement can occur by coincidence after a new med is added, and such coincidences tend to get talked about and attributed to the new med.
I am worried, however, that with an international expert touting a new treatment it may be very difficult to recruit enough patients for the formal trials. This is the reason the NIH-funded studies of HCQ were abandoned: very low enrollment despite major efforts by the investigators.

I think it's great that Prof. Borody is promoting ivermectin and especially that he's helping to get a trial underway in California. He has gotten a lot of visibility for the drug, which is good.
AFAIK, though, he's never done any ivermectin research or treated a patient with ivermectin. Could be wrong about that. I haven't watched the interviews on youtube or even read the news stories -- because I don't think they contain any research results.
Am I wrong about Borody not having any research results?

"GPs can legally prescribe the therapy today as an "off label" treatment according to Australian Guidelines - a standard practice in medicine. In fact more than 60% of prescriptions in Australia are "off-label". It's not a new concept. It's happening every day to manage diseases and save lives."

Good post. Next time would you put (Australia 2020-08-19) after the title? The convention is (country date). Thanks.
