Despite its positive effect on patients, anti-parasitic drug Ivermectin is still struggling to get attention as a possible cure to the dreaded coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
In an interview with Sky News Australia, Prof. Thomas Borody of the Centre for Digestive Diseases said this may be caused by the wide-availability of the medication that in turn makes it cheap.
“I think one of the best answers is that there is no big pharmaceutical company behind this,” he said.
“If I was to join a team and try to get people not to get to hospital, I won’t make any money out of it. I’m not interested. It’s cheap, it’s rapidly available,” he added.
