i wonder if a drop or 2 of liquid ivermectin on a mask, where you would breathe some in, be a helpful?

Interesting idea. You should round up 100 friends, give half of them liquid ivermectin and the other half water, then see what happens. I'm expecting a full report.

can't grasp why nasal would be more effective than pill?

speaking of nasal sprays, did you know there are OTC steroid nasal sprays now approved in the USA? this was very surprising to me because of how glucocorticoids can be dangerous if abused - but it does bring to mind the idea someone might be able to use them if they had a severe reaction to covid infection and unable to access doctor/hospital - Flonase, Nasacort and Rhinocort, not as powerful as prednisone or dexamethasone but they really are steroids

pill doesn't reach lungs. that's why

anywhere there is blood flow the pill will reach, eventually

nasal is also not the same as inhaled/nebulized, it won't reach the lungs effectively

seems a little strange to me but they are the doctors so I guess they know what they are doing, or maybe trying an experiment

The nasopharynx and oropharynx (I think I spelled those right) -- the areas behind/above the nasal passages -- are where the virus first takes hold and establishes its base camp.

That's why I suck on nicotine and zinc lozenges!

pill form of ivermectin goes through bloodstream and reaches the lungs

yeah dude you know more than a doctor, good for you

holy hell you are ridiculous, I've -personally- taken ivermectin pills for my lungs infected with covid, it's firsthand knowledge/experience

if pills didn't go through bloodstream to the lungs I'd be dead

you realize most every organ in the body has blood flow right? that's how oral medication works

yeah dude anecdotical experience is real evidence, lmao. there is a reason why ivermectin isn't good and efficient in advanced stages of COVID

Get the drug directly to the lungs?!

did you know there are OTC steroid nasal sprays now approved in the USA?

Should I pick some up, if my goal is to avoid catching covid? I'll be at the hospital if I catch it, so I don't need it as home therapy.

steroids won't stop covid from infecting you or cure you

however if your lungs become massively inflamed, they will allow you to keep breathing

this is why far less people are dying now in the USA vs New York in March, they've figured out to give people huge amounts of steroids in the ICU

dexamethasone basically kept me alive and breathing, then ivermectin helped my body eventually kill covid

Trial #34 at ClinicalTrials! Yet another out of Egypt. Cool that it will be done quickly: the first completion date is October.

Brief Summary:

The global escalation of COVID19 pandemic has put the health care system under pressure with urgent need for treatment. In the absence of vaccine and approved drug against SARS-COV2 over the past 6 months, the health authorities were obliged to re-purpose existing drugs to fight this pandemic.

Detailed Description:

Ivermectin is a well-known FDA-approved pan antiparasitic drug with high safety profile and potential therapeutic effects against COVID 19. It has been previously investigated as an antiviral agent. It showed 5000 fold reduction of SARS COV 2 viral RNA in-vitro studies.

However, some researchers questioned its efficacy in the oral form as very high doses will be required to achieve a proper tissue concentration and viricidal effect in the respiratory system.

Our hypothesis is that, since COVID-19 has shown to be particularly damaging to the respiratory system, using inhaled forms of Ivermectin will deliver the drug directly to the infection site and make it a treatment option.

60 participants will be randomly assigned to 3 arms:

Experimental: Ivermectin administered as nasal spray (one ml in each nostril two times daily)

Experimental: Ivermectin oral - Ivermectin administered orally (one tablet 6 mg three times daily) for 72 hours plus the standard care of COVID-19 cases.

Control: Standard care - COVID-19 cases will receive standard of care [oxygen via masks or ventilators]

Primary outcome: PCR of SARS-Cov2 RNA [ Time Frame: 14 days ] Negative PCR result of SARS-Cov2 RNA in COVID19 patients

Inclusion criteria: mild to moderate severity who are confirmed to be positive for SARS COV 2.

Exclusion criteria: patients with severe form of COVID-19 or those who are on ventilatory support or those with cytokine storm

Start date: September 2020 Primary completion date: October 2020 Final completion date: December 2020
