This is the personal story of a person in India's experience with the virus, with a relevant (though very minor) mention:
When it comes to the medication, it varies from patient to patient, depending upon the symptom and strain of the virus.
For instance, the doctors are giving me antibiotic tablets, and antibiotic injections, along with Ivermectin, which is the medicine being used in India to handle coronavirus patients.
The immune system's effectiveness is reduced by the virus, making the body more susceptible to bacterial infection. That's one theory I've heard; I don't know much about it. Also a lot of antibiotics are cheap so why not? You can buy 6 250mg tablets of azithromycin for $4.80 without insurance.
Well even though they're cheap it creates the danger of creating more antibiotic resistant bacteria. I am not familiar with the effect of the virus on suppressing the immune system but I would be extremely hesitant to prescribe antibiotics unless the bacteria is posing a death risk.

WOW: I'm very surprised to learn that ClinicalTrials.gov has 106 studies looking at azithromycin vs covid-19

That's good practice generally, but with covid-19 and lacking good research, people are trying stuff. Resistance is much lesser concern.
