Ivermectin is OTC in Mexico.

NOGALES, SONORA, MX – The drug Ivermectin has started to become scarce in pharmacies due to the high demand for its use as a treatment for Covid-19.

Ivermectin is not approved as a treatment for Covid-19 by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control, or by the US Food and Drug Administration, yet sales are experiencing strong demand.

The same thing occurs with the drugs Azithromycin and Oseltamivir. People rush to Nogales’ pharmacies to buy them in bulk. Ivermectin shipments continue to arrive in Nogales, but pharmacies report that it is selling out in just a few hours.

Ivermectin costs about $16 for four pills, while Oseltamivir can range from $20 to $38 depending on the laboratory that produces it.

I dont think its 16 pesos, but 16usd (359 pesos). I have asked around town and I can find a two-pill box ivexterm between 140 pesos and 500 pesos, 16 pesos is the average cost of a 600ml bottle of coke if that means anything for comparison.

That's pretty close to the US cost, from a quick google:

Weird that the 3mg pills are nearly double the cost per mg!?

I think this an Indian website that ships overseas: https://stromectolbuy.com/ (No experience/affiliation). It is about $1 per mg. I would expect Mexico to have similar prices.

Is it so safe to be used as OTC. What makes a drug eligible for otc. can't other countries follow suit?
