The Italian ‘COVER Trial’ has Regional Hospital & Pharma Research Institute Investigate Ivermectin for Early Stage COVID-19 (Italy, 2020-07-09, TrialSiteNews)[-] Murky-Lengthiness | 1 points
This “trial” is designed to “prove” Ivermectin is toxic, it’s paid by big pharma.

This is TSN's take on the COVER clinical trial discussed in this sub here. What's remarkable about this study is the HUGE DOSE of ivermectin it will be administering patients. The previous highest dose was the 600mcg/kg being done in a couple trials. This trial will be giving subjects 600mcg/kg for 5 concsecutive days -- and also 1200mcg/kg for 5 consecutive days. The latter amounts to 544mg of ivermectin for a 200# person. That's unprecedented. For the 1200mcg/kg doses, but not the 600mcg/kg doses, the trial specifies that the 1200mcg/kg will be given to patients on empty stomachs -- which reduces the uptake by about 2.5, compared to taking ivermectin with food.
Besides impact on the viral load, the primary outcome measure of the trial is the number of serious adverse drug reactions. Presumably the researchers will halt the higher-dose arm if a lot of subjects go loopy, like this woman who developed Central Nervous System symptoms after taking 12mg of ivermectin every day for two weeks (the only case of ivermectin overdose that I'm aware of).
I don't think the TSN article has any information that's not in the trial registration, except details about the researchers and research site.
