From Dr. Aguirre! This is the PDF (painfully) translated from Spanish to English using Google Translate.

TL:DR: 100% of 33 patients with long-lasting covid19 symptoms were cured with ivermectin. Two doses improved 97% and cured 87%. The remaining 12.1% were eventually cured after taking more ivermectin.

Long-Lasting Covid-19: Ivermectin Treatment Of Patients With Persistent Symptoms

#SUMMARY

INTRODUCTION: It is estimated that between 5 to 10% of people who get sick COVID will present persistent or long-lasting symptoms. Not published in this regard, an effective treatment for these cases, which shows that He would be making a diagnosis and treatment based on the etiology that originates it.

MATERIAL AND METHODS: The following Protocol was followed: Ivermectin at a Dose of 0.2 mg per kilo of weight for 2 days. In cases that after 2 doses still have symptoms, an additional 2 days of Ivermectin treatment was indicated.

RESULTS: 33 patients with persistent symptoms were treated with Ivermectin of COVID-19. In 97% of the 33 patients treated with Ivermectin it was found clinical improvement after 2 doses of Ivermectin. The clinical improvement was total in 87.9% of patients after the 2nd dose of Ivermectin. In 12.1% of the patients were required to give more days of treatment with Ivermectin, but with this achieved clinical improvement and remission of symptoms in 100% of cases.

CONCLUSION: The result of the present study finds effectiveness of Ivermectin treatment of patients with Persistent Symptoms of COVID19, observing a clinical improvement in 100% of cases.

#INTRODUCTION:

It is identifying patients who were diagnosed, treated by COVID-19 and discharged, who after one or more weeks report persistent symptoms that correspond to a case of COVID-19 Mild or Moderate; reported symptoms They are: general discomfort, fatigue or asthenia, myalgias, decreased muscle strength, anosmia or hyposmia (sometimes as the only symptom), semi-liquid stools, headache, low-grade fever, arthralgia, cough, dyspnea on exertion, oxygen saturation decreased, feeling of tightness in the chest, dysgeusia, dizziness, skin spots (especially on the face), paresthesias in the legs, thrombosis in the lower limbs, among others.

In reports from other countries it is estimated that between 5 to 10% of the people who ill with COVID will present persistent, long-lasting symptoms or prolonged. There is no mention in these publications of an effective treatment for these cases, which shows that a diagnosis was not being made and treatment based on the etiology that originates it (etiological treatment), so the Illness is prolonged for a long time by not eliminating the cause.

In Peru, our collaborating doctors have observed that with the use of Ivermectin the percentage of people with persistent symptoms or reactivation of symptoms after one or more weeks is about 3% of total cases. We call reactivation of the disease when in cases where the symptoms disappear, or after being discharged and asymptomatic, these patients return to symptoms after one or more weeks. We observed that in patients where Ivermectin was not indicated or received a low dose, the persistence of symptoms is more frequent.

#MATERIAL AND METHODS:

Inclusion Criteria: Patient with a history of having been diagnosed, treated by COVID-19 and discharged, and that after one or more weeks of date of discharge refer persistent symptoms typical of a case of COVID-19.

Exclusion Criteria: Patients who were not discharged by COVID-19, or who have any contraindication to receive Ivermectin or hypersensitivity known to ivermectin.

The following protocol was followed:

* Medication to prescribe: Ivermectin, in presentation in Dropper bottle at 0.6%.

* Dose: 0.2 mg per kilo of weight for 2 days.

* In the cases that after the 2 doses still show symptoms, it will be indicated 2 more days of treatment with Ivermectin.

* When cases with Moderate symptoms occur, a dose will be prescribed 0.4 mg per kilogram of weight for the first day, and then continue with 0.2 mg per kilo of weight for 2 more days. In case, on the 4th day of follow-up, the patient continue with symptoms, it will be prescribed to continue with more days of Ivermectin until clinical improvement is complete.

The first day dose was 400mcg/kg, twice the usual dose; on subsequent days, the usual 200mcg/kg was given until the patient was 100% recovered.

The severity presented by each patient, the place of care and whether it required hospitalization or home care with oxygen use.

#RESULTS:

Thirty-three patients with Persistent Symptoms of COVID-19 were treated with Ivermectin. Clinical improvement was found in 97% of the 33 patients treated with Ivermectin. after the 2 doses of Ivermectin. Clinical improvement was total in 87.9% of patients after the 2nd dose of Ivermectin.

In 12.1% of patients, more days of treatment with Ivermectin were required, but with this, clinical improvement and remission of symptoms was achieved in 100% of the cases.

No relationship was identified between severity and increased frequency of symptoms persistent.

#DISCUSSION

Molecular Tests for COVID-19 (PCR and Rapid Molecular) are performed obtaining samples by swabbing the nasal mucosa and the pharynx, being it is necessary to clarify that when the result is negative they only indicate that there is no charge viral in sufficient quantity at the level of the pharynx and nose, however, elsewhere virus can persist in the body, which is a significant limitation considering that samples are not being obtained from other parts of the body.

The virus has been shown to frequently locate at the level of the intestine, where it can remain for several weeks (6), a longer time than in the nose and pharynx. In people who only undergo PCR by mucosa swab nasal and pharynx, the virus is not being searched at the level of the intestine or other parts of the body.

An excellent point that I've never heard before: nasal swabs don't pick up virus that has moved to other parts of the body. A blood test would be better, I guess.

It is important to specify that a certain amount of virus is required for molecular tests are positive, so a negative result is not means that there are no viruses, but that this is not detectable by current tests and the parameters established for these.

Although the present study has been carried out with a not very large group of patients, the result finds effectiveness in the treatment with Ivermectin of the patients with persistent symptoms of COVID-19, observing a clinical improvement in the 100% of cases.

IMO N=33 is a convincing number, esp. with 100% effectiveness.

As Ivermectin is a treatment aimed at reducing viral load, it should be considered that the persistence of symptoms is related to the persistence of viruses in others places other than the nose and pharynx such as the intestine.

In cases of Anosmia and Hyposmia, the persistence of symptoms could be related to the presence of small amounts of viral load at the nose level and pharynx that are not detectable by current molecular tests and parameters established for these.

Anosmia: the loss of the sense of smell, either total or partial. It may be caused by head injury, infection, or blockage of the nose.

Hyposmia: partial loss of sense of smell

Studies with Persistent Symptoms of COVID-19 should be performed. consisting of tests for the detection of viral load in feces, as well as for the quantitative detection of viruses in amounts less than the parameters currently considered for the nasal and pharyngeal mucosa.

Besides, it is suggested to request the following blood tests: C Reactive Protein, ESR and Blood count with platelet count.

Given the high number of patients with Persistent Symptoms of COVID-19 (9) and that you have not been receiving an effective treatment, we suggest you start soon clinical studies of the use of Ivermectin given in daily doses between 0.2 to 0.4 mg. per kilo of weight and for the days it takes to achieve clinical improvement total of these patients, being able to add the Nitaxozanida given in doses of 500 mg. every 12 hours for 6 days in the cases of symptoms are moderate and not resolved with 3 days of Ivermectin treatment.

Nitazoxanide is a broad-spectrum antiparasitic and broad-spectrum antiviral drug that is used in medicine for the treatment of various helminthic, protozoal, and viral infections.

Sounds like a direct competitor to ivermectin.

[Reading on]

Oh, take nitazoxanide if ivermectin doesn't help.

#CONCLUSION:

The result of the present study finds effectiveness of treatment with Ivermectin from patients with Persistent Symptoms of COVID-19, observing a clinical improvement in 100% of cases.

Very interesting paper - especially with it's no holds barred confidence in ivermectin! When a little didnt work, they added more. And they continued with it.

The results are also promising - though small number of patients. However, experienced doctors would immediately feel whether the results are extraordinary or not.

Given they say symptoms went away within 2 day for majority, and with escalating dose for the rest, I wonder how this would compare to the "typical" mild patient. Do those spontaneously recover from symptoms within 2 days?

On the face of it, looks very promising.

2 days and 2 days and 2 days?

that would be a dream illness

try 2 weeks, 2 weeks, 2 weeks and now on 7th week

ivermectin works but only if your immune system can do the rest of the repair after it halts replication for most of the virus but not all
