Another place where sicker patients get more ivermectin!

See this closely-related post.

#At the Doctor A. Eurnekian Hospital in Ezeiza protocols for COVID-19 patients and healthy health personnel are carried out.

Sientists from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) are carrying out two protocols that include ivermectin for the cure and prevention of the coronavirus at the Doctor A. Eurnekian Hospital in Ezeiza.

The first protocol is in charge of Héctor Carvallo, former assistant professor of Internal Medicine at the UBA; Roberto Hirsch, former full professor of Infectology at the UBA and current director of the career of Medical Specialist in Infectology at the UBA and director of the HIV Department of the Muñiz Hospital, doctors Ciruzzi and Fajardi of the Eurnekian Hospital of Ezeiza and Dr. Mirta Martín, Professor of Dermatology at the University.

This protocol provides medication for mild, moderate and severe cases. In mild cases, ivermectin is given at a dose of 200 micrograms per kilogram of weight and aspirin to prevent hypercoagulability. In moderate cases, the dose of ivermectin is 400 micrograms and, in addition to aspirin, dexamethasone injection, an anti-inflammatory, is added to prevent hyperinflammation in the lungs.

In severe cases, the ivermectin dose drops to 600 micrograms, aspirin is replaced by enoxaparin, and dexamethasone is maintained.

Drops? Bad translation? It increases from 400 mcg/kg for moderate patients to 600 mcg/kg for severe cases.

"Both ivermectin, enoxaparin, dexamethasone, and aspirin have been approved for many years." Héctor Carvallo said in dialogue with Super Campo. And he added: «In all cases, ivermectin is given once a week, while the other drugs are given daily. The idea with ivermectin is not to completely eliminate the virus, with the aim of generating antibodies, in the manner of a vaccine produced by the body itself.

Interesting idea! Limit the virus's replication with ivermectin, but let it persist so antibodies are created.

Regarding the duration of the treatment, Carvallo said that “we estimate that it will last 30 days on average. The cost of this treatment is estimated at $ 15 per day. "

According to the UBA scientist, «in a study done in the United States according to the compilation of information from 702 people treated with ivermectin worldwide, compared to other perfectly comparable patients, it was determined that only a third of those treated with Ivermectin required a respirator and mortality was reduced from eight to one. That is very significant.

This is the Surgisphere ivermectin study, which the world disdains because of the so-called scandal (it was just a problem with the owner of the black box database not allowing an independent audit). Glad that it had an impact here!

The second protocol is also in charge of Héctor Carvallo, along with Roberto Hirsch, Patricio Ghirardi from the Veterinary Faculty of the UBA; Marcelo Naccuccio, from the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry of the UBA and the pharmacist María Luz Cassará, from the Cassará Foundation, who provides the medication.

In this protocol, intended for healthy hospital personnel, a nasal spray and oral drops are administered to protect the nose and mouth. "The objective is to protect because if a health officer on duty is infected - whatever the position he occupies - all the staff on duty, including cleaning people, have to be quarantined," said the scientist.

The nasal spray has carrageenan, a product derived from red algae that acts as an emulsifier, widely used in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.

"Carrageenan has been shown to have a viricidal effect, which is why it is present in milk for a long life as a natural preservative. Both ivermectin and carrageenan are highly concentrated in the salivary glands, generating antisepsis in the saliva drops. Therefore, the healthy patient could be quite protected and the asymptomatic would cease to be infectious, " said Carvallo.

There's a clinical trial that includes carrageenan. Might be Agentine, I don't remember. Now I know why.

It's too bad they don't report any results.

Why not go full dose and if you get it again, get treatment again instead of risking the virus spreading?

I don't understand, sorry. Patients got a full dose, as defined by their protocol, right?

I mean why not 600 mcg/kg for all

Makes sense to me! That would be safe. It's cheap. Go for the gusto!

Carrageenan has been suggested as an antiviral lube, and IIRC was tried in Africa vs HIV for that purpose, but also showed some efficacy vs HPV and herpes. Interestingly, its resemblance to heparan and heparin may be responsible. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1500806/

Comparison of a variety of compounds revealed that carrageenan, a type of sulfated polysaccharide extracted from red algae, is an extremely potent infection inhibitor for a broad range of sexually transmitted HPVs.

heparan and heparin

Had to read that a couple times. Can you explain please? Neither were mentioned in the linked article.

I only have a moment right now, but if you throw 'heparan binding sars-cov-2' into a search engine, you'll see all sorts of relevant stuff on that topic.
