Only a 1% or 2% reduction?

Interesting that these kits are to be used at home!

TREATMENT. Management of Health of Arequipa will distribute to light and moderate patients a package of drugs. The next week would come.

Arequipa

The Government will apply a new weapon against the coronavirus: the delivery of a kit of medicines for mild and moderate infected people who are at home. The goal is for all COVID-19 positives to heal quickly and do not require hospitalization or an ICU bed. Through rapid response teams, which monitor the health of inmates, therapy will be given, after medical evaluation.

Hydroxychloroquine, ivermectin and paracetamol will be in the drug cocktail. "In some cases the three medicines will be given, in others only two, as determined by the doctor," clarifies Pedro Escobedo, in charge of the Directorate of Medicines for Supplies and Drugs (DIREMID). The medicated ones will be monitored periodically by telephone. In addition, possible adverse effects will be monitored since one person may like you and another cause problems. For this, Escobedo reported that pharmacists will be integrated into the response team.

It would be easy and CHEAP to conduct a study of the prophylactic potential of ivermectin this way!

How will these drugs work before the virus? They will only attenuate possible complications since there is still no cure against COVID-19. For example, ivermectin would prevent "millions of copies of the virus from being created." Hydroxychloroquine would also help decrease replication. Both will be distributed amid a worldwide discussion about their favorable effects against the coronavirus.

Escodebo explains that to decide which drug and how much to prescribe, various factors will be analyzed. For example, a cardiac patient would not receive hydroxychloroquine because of the risk. Weight will also influence.

He added that at most a mild or moderate infection will receive 16 hydroxychloroquine tablets, a bottle of ivermectin and 10 paracetamol pills. These will be supplied for a shorter period within the mandatory 14-day quarantine.

The Regional Health Management requested the Government the kit for 3 thousand patients on average for the subsequent 15 days and that they would be distributed the following week, once they arrive. Escobedo expects the measure to reduce by 1 or 2 percentage points the number of seriously ill patients who come to the ICU.

I think they expect jus 1 to 2 percent hospitalized. Maybe it was a reporter’s mistake (hopefully)

I can’t see they’d go to this trouble for a 1% reduction

Perhaps it means reduce TO 1-2% of ICU visits

Yes I think the 1-2 % thing is a redaction mistake, must have been "Reduzca a 1 o 2 puntos " instead of "reduzca en 1 o 2 puntos".

I believe they meant that because they start with"

" The objective is that all Covid19 positives recover quickly and dont require hospitalization or ICU beds"
