So its possible that ivermectin could also be used as a preventive treatment? If the virus cant develop due to a hostile environment, that's the logical conclusion.

I'm actually wondering if ivermectin could be used to treat the flu with same success rate and even the common cold.

That's a hope! I'm high risk for covid19 about 6 ways. To avoid getting sick I am super-isolating. If ivermectin is shown to be protective or it is therapeutically effective enough to convince me I will live through the illness -- that's my ticket to re-entering the world. ;)

The drug has been given to billion(s) of people, in mass drug administrations conducted by public health people. It's also taken by people for the treatment of scabies and rosacea. I think someone would have noticed such desirable effects!
