It's interesting that the price of ivermctin has increased five-fold in Bolivia. Hopefully supply will catch up and drive that back down.
The Minister of Health, Marcelo Navajas, told the private television channel Unitel that a circular was issued to “allow all of us the possibility of importing and the use in different doses of the product ”, called ivermctin.
Although he immediately clarified “that it is a product that does not have scientific validation in the treatment of coronavirus ”.
Bolivian doctors, mainly from the regions of Santa Cruz (east) and Beni (northeast) revealed in recent days thate are using ivermctin to treat people who have contracted the virus.
After the first information about the medicine, supplied in pills, the product began to be in demand in pharmacies and in the informal market where its unit price has increased fivefold, from 10 to 50 Bolivianos (from 1.4 to 7.0 dollars).
“This remedy is easy to apply and is very cheap, It can be applied throughout the national territory, this medicine eliminates that organism (coronavirus) from the body in five days, ”said doctor Erland Vaca Diez on Monday, although he admitted that they failed to establish its efficacy in 100% of cases of COVID-19.
The National Director of Epidemiology, Virgilio Prieto, pointed out that ivermctin “It is an antiparasitic of preferred use in veterinary medicine, but it has also been used in a certain type of human parasitosis ”.
The president of the Medical College of La Paz, Luis Larrea, asked for caution: “We are going to wait for clinical trials, We are going to hope that they can really do the studies as a country and not be playing self-medication, “he said.
Bolivia accumulated to date two thousand 964 infected by coronavirus and 128 deceased. The country is in quarantine from March 17 until the end of May.

Hey, me again.
Two days ago, an interview was posted on YouTube of a Bolivian lawyer living in NY. They talk about the success he and friends had with it to treat Coronavirus (he also quotes other examples of YT comments in that video to show people the success even further), and they also talk about the weirdness of Bolivia not only prohibiting its use at first, but how some bolivian networks are muting his videos and deleting his comments regarding the drug.
Seems he's being a bit tinfoil-y about it but at least his experience does give more hope!
Some people are worried about the effect of treatment drugs on antibodies, though. Like, are antibodies generated after taking Ivermectin less powerful than those people develop after going through the illness with no external aid?
Good thing we're figuring this out, though. Slow but steady.

I haven't heard anything about ivermectin and antibodies. Can you share a link please?

I think the government decision to allow ivermectin was made yesterday. Maybe his videos will be more accepted now?
I guess his video was in Spanish. Darn. Can I get a link anyway, please?

Too slow. :(

Oh, no no, sorry, wasn't clear enough. There's nothing talking about it yet per se, I was just talking about three of my close circles for example. When I tell them what I've gathered, some people in there are worried to be exposed to the virus yet again after taking Ivermectin since they think meds replace antibodies at least partially in terms of dealing with the illness, and they fear remaining unprotected after taking the dosage. I don't really have a lot of knowledge in this area so I wasn't able to ease their concerns or otherwise.

Hopefully they will. Though the sudden, mysterious rising price of Ivermectin over there will complicate things anyway, sadly.
And yeah, the video is in spanish :(
Here's the video.
Here's another one of a colleague of his.
And here's an English one of him talking about his concerns in both video and description.

Interesting possibility. If they're taking ivermectin because they have the virus -- then I would guess they'll get the antibodies. Guess.
Bummer about the price run-up.
Thanks for the links to the videos!
